Come along and chase the pudding

Posted on 05 November 2013 by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council

The popular Christmas event Chase the Pudding is back.

Residents in Weymouth and Portland can dress up in their favourite Christmas fancy dress costume and chase a giant Christmas pudding along Weymouth Beach on Sunday 15 December at 11am.

People are welcome to come along and watch Father Christmas, elves, fairies and Christmas trees chase the pudding along the beach.

Organiser BustinSkin Events Ltd is aiming for a record breaking entry and a Christmas boost to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Neil Jarrett, Fundraising and Volunteer Manager for the British Heart Foundation said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s great Chase the Pudding and creating a festive spectacle on Weymouth Beach.  It is going to be a lot of fun, and the funds raised will help us to continue the life-changing work that we carry out in the local area and across the UK.”

Mark Steen, Director of BustinSkin Events Ltd, said: “I am really pleased to be partnered with British Heart Foundation again this year. It is a very worthwhile cause and with a professional events team the pudding race can only go from strength to strength. I am sure that many local club runners and enthusiasts will turn out in great numbers to share this hilarious, happy and healthy seasonal event.”

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council Tourism and Culture brief holder Cllr Ian Bruce said: “Weymouth’s enthusiasm for hosting great festivals and events throughout the year continues with this great festive favourite ‘Chase the Pudding’. Local events generate great fun, awareness, funds for good causes and bring the town to life. Come on down to the seafront on 15 December and help make one of  Weymouth’s big Christmas events go off with a festive cheer.”

The entry costs are £10 for adults (£15 to receive a Santa outfit) and under 10’s go free with a family member. For full entry and sponsorship details visit

Registration starts at 9am and will also include a warm-up with Jodie Bateman from 9.30am in the Weymouth Pavilion Ocean Room. The race will be started by Wessex FM presenter James O’Neill.
