Hundreds of events, festivals and sporting championships will arrive in Weymouth and Portland this year.
The borough will boast over 200 individual events kicking off with Weymouth hosting its first ever International Beach Race featuring exhilarating racing from the world of quad bikes, solo bikes and buggies, taking place on Weymouth Beach on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 February.
Major festivals will include Weymouth’s Big Beach Weekend featuring the high flying International Beach Kite Festival in May, one of the country’s leading armed forces celebrations in June, Dorset Seafood Festival and Leisure and Watersports Show in July, Weymouth Carnival and fireworks in August and a year of high class international sailing events throughout the year at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.
Following the great experiences of the Olympic summer in 2012, this year promises to be an incredibly active year for Weymouth and Portland with numerous walks, runs, swims and multi sports events taking place for everyone to try.
Look out for the all new Half Ironman and the ASA Long Distance Swimming Championships taking place in June, Round the Rock 10k in May on Portland, Weymouth Bay Swim in August, Dimble Bimble Fun Run and Weymouth Classic Triathlon in September.

The borough council’s events team official events partners for 2013 include: Atlantic Audio, Weymouth Swimming Pool (SLM), Real World Security and Haven Littlesea.
Throughout 2013 the borough council’s fantastic open spaces and parks will once again be a buzz of color, pride and interest, hosting a range of activities including nature by the RSPB, events, fetes, fayres and picnics organised by many vibrant friends groups and local organisations.
And finally on Sunday 24 March the Weymouth Pavilion Theatre will host its 13th Best of Dorset Show. This highly successful event will give many top attractions, businesses, organisations throughout the borough a unique opportunity to promote their services and facilities to the public and trade visitors. It will be a tremendous fun day with free entertainment, discounts, information and all the latest news and information on what’s planned for 2013.
