Purbeck District Council has sent the Core Strategy to the government for scrutiny.
The plan, which will guide development in Purbeck, will be examined by an independent inspector.
The Strategy has been six years in the making and has been shaped by feedback from the people of Purbeck who have given their views during that time.
Councillor Paul Johns, the district council’s Built Environment Spokesperson, said: “The Core Strategy is the main planning policy document for the district and sets out the broad principles for the sustainable development of the district until 2027.
“We would like to thank everyone who has given us feedback, which was taken account of in the documents we submitted to the Government.”
Anyone who has commented on the Strategy during formal consultations in November 2010 and September 2011 will be asked if they would like to take part in a public hearing which will be held by the Inspector in Wareham.
Following the examination, the Inspector will publish a report on the plan. If the report recommends any changes, these will need to be made before the Core Strategy can be adopted. It will then provide policy for the determination of planning applications up to the year 2027.
Detail of the Core Strategy examination will be regularly updated online at www.dorsetforyou.com/examination/purbeck. The Core Strategy library can be viewed online or at libraries, town council offices and the council offices at Westport House, Worgret Road, Wareham.
