There is a chance to comment on new plans to improve Dorchester Road in Weymouth at a series of public meetings. On-street parking, new crossing islands and a cycleway will help make it easier for pedestrians to get around safely, say county road planners. These improvements will complete the transformation of the Upwey to Manor roundabout road from a formerly congested thoroughfare to a calm residential street.
Detailed plans will be on show and the project team available to answer questions at:
• Frank Reynolds Community Centre, Dorchester Road on Tuesday 31 January, 10am-4pm;
• Upwey and Broadwey Memorial Hall, Victoria Avenue on Wednesday 1 February from 11.30am-4.30pm and Thursday 2 February, 2pm-6pm;
• Redlands Community Sports Hub, Dorchester Road on Friday 3 February from 12pm-4pm and Saturday 4 February from 10am-4pm.
The Weymouth Relief Road scheme contained plans to improve Dorchester Road for residents once the heavy traffic was removed. The ideas for achieving this have been revised following an inconclusive response from local people to an earlier scheme.
People can see the detailed plans and leave their comments on dorsetforyou.com from the end of the month.
